Long-duration missions demand reliable fluid management, contamination control, and thermal performance. Mott helps aerospace engineers solve these challenges with flight-proven filtration, flow control, and porous media technologies.
Operating beyond Earth orbit introduces engineering challenges that traditional aerospace systems were never designed to address.
Protect propulsion systems, scientific instruments, and life-support equipment from harmful particulate contamination.
Enable reliable fluid acquisition, transfer, and control in microgravity and reduced-gravity environments.
Maintain performance through harsh thermal cycling experienced during lunar day/night transitions and deep-space operations.
Reduce size, weight, and power requirements without sacrificing reliability or performance.
Improve storage, transfer, and utilization of cryogenic propellants for lunar, cislunar, and deep-space missions.
Mott combines decades of aerospace expertise with advanced porous metal, mesh, and additive manufacturing technologies to help engineers improve reliability, reduce risk, and optimize system performance.

Supporting NASA's PRIME-1 Lunar Mission
Mott's custom flow control assembly successfully completed operational testing on the lunar surface as part of NASA's PRIME-1 mission. The technology supported volatile gas sampling from lunar regolith, helping advance future lunar exploration and resource utilization efforts.
Supporting Human Lunar Exploration
Mott filtration technology was selected for the Gateway lunar space station's HALO module, supporting critical Environmental Control and Life Support System functions designed to provide contaminant-free breathing gases in crewed environments.

Lunar and deep-space missions face unique challenges, including contamination control, microgravity fluid management, extreme thermal cycling, strict size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements, and long-duration operation without maintenance.
Particulate contamination can impact propulsion systems, valves, regulators, scientific instruments, and life-support equipment. Effective filtration helps improve reliability, protect sensitive hardware, and reduce mission risk.
Spacecraft use specialized technologies such as Surface Tension Elements (STEs), Propellant Management Devices (PMDs), and precision flow-control components to acquire, transport, and manage fluids when gravity is unavailable.
Yes. Mott technologies have supported deep-space exploration and lunar missions, including NASA’s Deep Space 1 mission and NASA’s PRIME-1 lunar mission. Mott solutions have also been used across spacecraft, propulsion systems, scientific instruments, and life-support applications.
Whether you’re developing lunar landers, habitat systems, resource utilization technologies, or deep space exploration platforms, Mott can help solve complex contamination control, fluid management, thermal management, and reliability challenges.
