Mott Porous Metal Makes Catalyst Recovery Easier, Safer and Less Expensive

Unique Design Provides High-Efficiency to Food Processors

FARMINGTON, Conn., Feb. 23, 2001– Porous metal filtration systems from Mott Corp. provide food processors with superior efficiency in metal catalyst recovery, such as retrieving nickel in oil hydrogenation. Mott permanent filters are able to recover virtually 100% of expensive catalysts in one pass with a minimum of product loss. Mott filters achieve catalyst recovery without awkward, bulky, and labor-intensive leaf, bag, or plate-and-frame filters, which means significant savings for processors.

Fully automated Mott filter systems eliminate constant operator dependence and potentially hazardous operator exposure. The systems can even be designed to automatically return catalysts to the reactor for reuse.

Besides filtration for catalyst recovery, Mott porous metal is effectively used in all aspects of food and beverage processing including tank venting, clarification, carbonation, aeration, fermentation, steam injection and oxygen stripping. In the environmental arena, Mott inertial gas sampling filters collect clean in-process samples from particle-laden streams eliminating damage to a processing plant’s sensitive stack gas monitoring equipment.

Mott Corp. manufactures a variety of filtration and related devices from porous metal. It serves industrial and high purity customers worldwide through such industries as chemical, instrumentation, fiber, semiconductor, energy, food and beverage, and environmental.
