Flow Restrictors
in Anesthesia Delivery Systems
CRITICAL
COMPONENT FOR
SAFE CONTROL OF GAS FLOWS
FARMINGTON,
Conn., March 11, 2003 – Mott's sintered metal precision
flow restrictors are used in the gas circuitry of anesthesia
delivery systems and other critical flow devices. Due to
economic and environmental benefits, there has been a growing
interest in low flow anesthesia. Low flow anesthesia techniques
are considered a means of elimination or reducing atmospheric
pollutants, as well as reducing the consumption of expensive
anesthesia agents. Mott flow restrictors are used in anesthesia
delivery systems, maintaining a minimum oxygen flow and
non-hazardous gas mixtures of nitrous oxide, helium and
or carbon dioxide.
Mott
porous metal flow restrictors are custom manufactured
and calibrated to the flow and pressure
specifications of each customer. Mott restrictors have
no moving parts and provide consistent, repeatable, close
tolerance flow rates. Used in conjunction with flow meters,
valves, and alarm sensors of the gas circuitry, they
provide the optimum balance between performance and
cost effectiveness.
In
addition to consistent certified flow rates, these
restrictors are resistant to plugging and fouling
and are constructed
of non-shedding compatible materials. Standard designs
make them easily fitted into present gas circuitry
designs.
Mott
Corporation has been ISO 9001 certified since 1997
and manufactures a variety of filtration and flow
control
devices from porous metal. It serves industrial and
high purity customers worldwide through such industries
as
chemical, instrumentation, medical device, semiconductor,
energy,
food and beverage, and environmental. To find out
